Nemours is currently seeking a full-time Registered Dietitian (RD) to join its Gastroenterology team in Jacksonville, Florida. This specialized role focuses on providing expert medical nutrition therapy to pediatric patients ranging from newborns to 18 years old with complex clinical needs. The dietitian position spans the Gastroenterology and Endocrinology divisions, offering a unique opportunity to impact multiple areas of children’s health. A core responsibility involves being an integral member of the interdisciplinary Celiac Disease team, contributing valuable nutrition expertise to the management of this digestive disorder. Additionally, the role includes spearheading targeted weight management medical nutrition therapy initiatives, which are crucial in addressing pediatric obesity and related health challenges. The Registered Dietitian will conduct thorough nutritional assessments utilizing current pediatric guidelines to evaluate patient needs and calculate nutrient requirements precisely. They will develop, implement, and adapt individualized, evidence-based nutrition care plans tailored to complex pediatric conditions. Educating patients and caregivers on therapeutic diets and modified formulas is an important part of the job, with an emphasis on ensuring comprehension and adherence to dietary recommendations. Clinical documentation is meticulously maintained, including assessments, care plans, and education interventions. The dietitian acts as a dedicated clinical resource, coordinating referrals and managing follow-up care to ensure continuity and quality of care. Strong interdisciplinary collaboration is required, involving participation in patient care conferences and ongoing communication with the broader healthcare team. Professional development is encouraged, with expectations for staying current with clinical literature, attending educational activities, and maintaining a professional portfolio in line with Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) standards. Job Requirements

  • Completed a minimum of a bachelor's degree at a U.S. regionally accredited university or college with accredited coursework by CADE
  • Obtain RD certificate within 90 days of hire by passing the national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Obtain Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist status through the Delaware Department of State: Division of Professional Regulation within six months of hire
  • Additional state licensure in Pennsylvania, Maryland, or New Jersey may be required depending on position
  • Maintain continuing professional education requirements to retain registration and licensure
  • Hospital experience preferred
  • At least two years of pediatric experience preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a U.S. regionally accredited university or college with coursework accredited or approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND)
  • Registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or eligibility to obtain RD certification within 90 days of hire
  • Continuing professional education to maintain registration and licensure
  • Master’s degree in a nutrition-related field preferred
  • Specialty certification such as Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), or Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition (CSP) preferred
  • Prior hospital experience preferred
  • At least two years of pediatric nutrition experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Evaluate patient nutritional status and calculate nutrient requirements using current pediatric guidelines
  • Formulate, implement, and adapt evidence-based nutrition care plans tailored to complex pediatric conditions
  • Counsel patients and caregivers on therapeutic diets and modified formulas while evaluating comprehension and compliance
  • Maintain documentation of assessments, care plans, and educational interventions within progress notes
  • Serve as a dedicated clinical resource, coordinate internal and external referrals as indicated, and manage ordered follow-up care
  • Participate in patient care conferences and maintain communication across the healthcare team
  • Stay current with clinical literature, attend educational activities, and maintain a professional portfolio per CDR standards
