Job Description

Nemours Children's Health is an internationally recognized pediatric health system serving more than 1.7 million patient encounters each year. The organization operates across six states, offering care through two freestanding children’s hospitals—Nemours Children's Hospital in Delaware and Nemours Children's Hospital in Florida—along with an extensive network of over 80 primary, urgent, and specialty care practices and more than 40 hospital partnerships. Backed by the Nemours Foundation and the Alfred I. duPont Trust, Nemours is a $1.7 billion nonprofit system dedicated to improving children's health through clinical care, research, education, advocacy, and prevention. The Whole Child Health approach, central to Nemours’s mission, emphasizes both prevention and treatment and involves collaborating with communities to ensure every child’s well-being and ability to thrive. The organization strongly prioritizes inclusion and belonging, focusing on culturally relevant care, reducing health disparities, and fostering an environment where all associates, patients, and families feel supported and valued. More information about Nemours can be found at Nemours.org.

Nemours Children's Hospital, Florida, located in Orlando, is currently seeking a full-time Clinical Dietitian to join their team. This position offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus for external applicants, highlighting the organization's commitment to attracting qualified professionals. The Clinical Dietitian will provide expert clinical nutrition consultation in coordination with physicians and other members of the multidisciplinary care team. This role includes coverage of medical/surgical units, inpatient rehabilitation, and short stay services. Key responsibilities involve conducting nutrition assessments and interventions for both inpatient and outpatient pediatric populations, developing and implementing individualized nutritional care plans based on comprehensive evaluations including diet history, laboratory data, medication use, supplement intake, medical history, and expected growth and development parameters suitable for the patient’s unique characteristics such as age, sex, cultural, and ethnic background.

The Clinical Dietitian will function as a nutrition consultant, completing nutrition consults and referrals originating from within Nemours as well as community providers. Critical duties also include nutrition counseling for pediatric patients and their caretakers regarding disease-specific diets and/or formulas, requiring thorough knowledge of infant, pediatric, and adult formula compositions along with the capacity to calculate and customize specialized formula recipes and meal plans. Documentation of nutritional assessments and recommendations is mandated through the EPIC medical record system. Active participation in multidisciplinary team rounds and providing recommendations for enteral feeding and parenteral nutrition orders further define this clinical role. The Dietitian is expected to demonstrate clinical proficiency by completing all required clinical competencies, including basic and specialized prescribing competencies when applicable.

Additionally, the Clinical Dietitian will maintain and update educational materials related to nutritional therapies for specific diseases and serve as a valued nutrition resource to medical teams, hospital personnel, and the community. Collaboration with physicians, nurses, social workers, therapists, hospital and community dietitians, homecare agencies, pharmacies, and school personnel is critical to ensure coordinated and comprehensive nutritional care. The position requires participation in an on-call schedule shared with other dietitian staff and flexibility to travel to satellite clinic locations as necessary. The work schedule includes Monday through Friday with rotating remote weekend and holiday coverage. Nemours offers a competitive compensation package with comprehensive benefits, including health, life, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plans with employer match, and professional development allowances. Working for Nemours means joining a mission-driven organization committed to pediatric health excellence and innovative, culturally sensitive care.
