Job Description
Nemours Children's Health is a distinguished pediatric health system recognized internationally for its comprehensive and compassionate healthcare services dedicated to children. Serving over 1.7 million patient encounters annually, Nemours operates across six states with two leading freestanding children’s hospitals — Nemours Children’s Hospital in Delaware and Nemours Children’s Hospital in Florida — supported by a vast network comprising more than 80 primary, urgent, and specialty care practices along with over 40 hospital partnerships. Backed by the esteemed Nemours Foundation and Alfred I. duPont Trust, the organization commands a $1.7 billion nonprofit system, prioritizing children's health through clinical care, research, education, advocacy, and prevention.
Nemours Children’s Health employs a Whole Child Health approach that equally balances prevention and treatment. This approach not only targets the medical care of children but also emphasizes partnerships with communities to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive. Core organizational values hinge on inclusion and belonging, playing a significant role in strategy and operational growth. The system champions culturally appropriate care, actively works to reduce health disparities, and fosters an environment where every associate, patient, and family feels supported and valued.
Within this esteemed network, Nemours Children's Hospital, Florida, is seeking to fill a full-time Clinical Dietitian role in Orlando, FL. This position is essential for delivering expert clinical nutrition consultation in collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary care teams. The role covers multiple hospital units including Med/Surg, Inpatient Rehabilitation, and Short Stay units. Clinical Dietitians will apply their expertise to assess nutritional needs and implement customized nutritional care plans based on a wide array of patient-specific factors such as diet history, laboratory results, medications, supplements, medical history, growth expectations, and cultural factors.
The Clinical Dietitian at Nemours will function as a key nutrition consultant responsible for conducting detailed nutrition assessments, interventions, and counseling for both inpatient and outpatient pediatric patients. They will advise patients and caretakers on disease-specific diets and formulas, requiring detailed knowledge about various infant, pediatric, and adult nutritional formulas. Critical documentation of nutritional assessments and treatment plans will be managed through the EPIC medical record documentation system.
This role demands active participation in multidisciplinary team rounds and coordination with a broad spectrum of healthcare providers including nurses, social workers, therapists, other dietitians, pharmacies, home care services, and school personnel to ensure cohesive nutritional care. Nutrition plans may involve prescribing and recommending enteral feeding and parenteral nutrition. The Clinical Dietitian is also charged with maintaining 100% completion of clinical competencies including enteral and parenteral nutrition prescribing competencies as necessary.
Additional responsibilities include continually updating educational materials related to nutritional therapies for specific diseases and serving as a reliable nutrition resource within the hospital and the broader community. The position operates with some level of on-call duties within a rotating schedule to ensure continuous nutrition consultation availability.
This role offers a competitive starting base compensation situated in the top market quartile, complemented by an annual incentive plan that rewards clinical activities, academic achievements, and quality improvements. Nemours provides a comprehensive benefit package and recognizes the importance of ongoing professional development by including licensure support, CME allowances, and dues payments. There is also a significant $5,000 sign-on bonus for external candidates, positioning this opportunity as highly attractive for qualified clinical dietitians who are passionate about advancing pediatric health nutrition.
