Currently, Nemours Children\u2019s Hospital is seeking a full-time Clinical Dietitian to join its dedicated team in Orlando, FL. This role is pivotal in addressing the nutritional needs of pediatric patients across several departments, including Medical/Surgical, Inpatient Rehabilitation, and Short Stay units. The Clinical Dietitian will work closely with physicians and a variety of healthcare professionals within a multidisciplinary care team to provide expert clinical nutrition consultation and develop individualized nutritional care plans.
The Clinical Dietitian at Nemours Children\u2019s Hospital will perform comprehensive nutrition assessments and interventions, focusing on patients flagged at high nutrition risk. These interventions will be evidence-based and culturally sensitive, accounting for patients' age, sex, medical history, and dietary requirements. The dietitian must be proficient in clinical nutrition consultation, including diet history evaluation, lab result interpretation, medication regimen review, and the prescribing of enteral and parenteral nutrition. They will also provide nutrition counseling to pediatric patients and their caretakers, educating them on disease-specific diets and specialized formula preparations.
Documentation is an essential component of this role. The Clinical Dietitian will utilize the EPIC medical record system to document nutritional assessments and recommendations accurately. Active participation in team rounds and multidisciplinary meetings will be necessary to ensure coordinated patient care. Additionally, the Clinical Dietitian serves as a valuable resource for nutrition-related information within the hospital and community realms.
This full-time position offers a competitive salary package, including a $5,000 sign-on bonus for external applicants, reflecting the high value placed on attracting skilled nutrition professionals. The schedule includes Monday-Friday workdays with rotating remote weekend and holiday coverage, providing a balance of structure and flexibility. Job Requirements
- must have completed a minimum of a bachelor’s degree at a U.S. regionally accredited university or college and course work accredited or approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
- minimum 1 year of experience required
- hospital experience preferred
- at least 2 years of pediatric experience preferred
- master’s degree in nutrition related field preferred
- registered dietitian with active registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
- licensed dietitian/nutritionist in the state of Florida
- must have completed continuing professional educational requirements to maintain registration and licensure
- must obtain RD certificate within 180 days of hire by passing the national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND)
- obtain licensed dietitian/nutritionist status through the Florida Department of State: Division of Professional Regulation within 6 months of hire
- additional specialty certification preferred (CDE, CNSC and or CSP)
- pediatric experience preferred
- American Heart Association BLS Certification required
- travel to satellite clinic locations as needed

Job Duties
- functions as a nutrition consultant, completing nutrition consults and referrals from Nemours and community providers
- conducts nutrition assessment and intervention for inpatients and outpatients, as required by the specific position
- develops and implements nutritional care plans based on diet history, labs, medications, supplements, medical history, medical care plan, and expected growth and development appropriate for the patient’s age, sex, cultural/ethnic background and disease specific requirements
- performs nutrition counseling for pediatric patients/caretakers regarding disease specific diets and/formulas
- documents nutritional assessments and recommendations via EPIC medical record documentation system
- actively participates in team rounds, as necessary
- provides recommendations for and prescribes enteral feeding and parenteral nutrition orders, as necessary
