Job Description
The Home for Little Wanderers is a historic and impactful child welfare agency, serving vulnerable children and their families for over 200 years. As the oldest child welfare agency in America, The Home has developed a lasting legacy of building stable lives and bright futures for at-risk youth ranging from birth to age 26. The organization operates through more than 25 community-based and residential programs, making a difference in the lives of thousands of children who have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, or disrupted family environments. The Home's mission centers around providing safe surroundings, permanent loving relationships, and a secure path toward a hopeful future for children in need. With a firm commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, The Home fosters a culture that amplifies the abilities and talents of a diverse workforce, dedicated to inclusive care and exceptional service for the children and families it supports.
Waltham House is one of its pioneering residential group homes and holds the distinction of being the first in New England designed specifically for LGBTQ+ youth. Established in 2002, it was among the first of its kind nationally and remains dedicated to creating a safe, respectful, and supportive living environment for young people ages 14 to 18 who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, and/or transgender. Often these youth have endured significant challenges related to their gender expression or sexual identities within their families or previous placements. Waltham House provides 24-hour staffing and care for up to 12 youth, helping prepare them for their next steps—whether reunification with family, transition to foster care, or independent living.
The Clinical Coordinator role is a critical leadership position within this setting, responsible for providing clinical oversight with a trauma-informed approach. This position involves supervising and evaluating master’s level, licensed, and bachelor’s level clinicians alongside student interns, providing both individual and group clinical supervision and ongoing guidance and training for clinical and residential staff. The coordinator also plays a central role in coordinating in-service trainings, hiring, performance management, facilitating the intake and discharge processes, and managing and monitoring caseloads. Maintaining quality assurance standards relating to treatment planning, documentation, and client care is paramount. The Clinical Coordinator also oversees the group therapy curriculum, participates in clinical conferences and IEP meetings, and serves on agency committees, helping advance the mission and clinical excellence of The Home for Little Wanderers.
The position offers an opportunity to make a profound and lasting impact on vulnerable youth, supporting a diverse and inclusive community while working with a team of passionate professionals. Additionally, this position is eligible for a bonus of up to $5000. The Home offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including generous time off, health, vision and dental insurance, extensive training, tuition reimbursement, and retirement plans with employer match, among other benefits. This ensures the wellbeing and growth of its employees as they dedicate themselves to service. If you are committed to trauma-informed care, clinical leadership, and creating safe and supportive environments for at-risk youth, this opportunity with The Home for Little Wanderers and Waltham House is a rewarding and impactful career path.
