Job Description
Fresenius Medical Care North America (FMCNA) is a global leader in providing innovative dialysis care and services to patients with chronic kidney failure. As a part of a comprehensive healthcare network, FMCNA is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals suffering from kidney diseases by delivering safe, effective, and compassionate treatment solutions. The company combines cutting-edge technology with highly skilled clinical teams to ensure patients receive the highest standard of care. FMCNA emphasizes its commitment to compliance with all regulatory and legal standards, operational excellence, and continuous professional development for its staff. The workplace fosters a culture centered on respect, integrity, and dedication to patient care, aligning with FMCNA's mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy. This position operates within a regulated healthcare environment bound by strict adherence to the FMCNA Compliance Program and all applicable federal and state regulatory requirements.
The Charge Nurse role at FMCNA is a highly responsible and dynamic leadership position within the clinical team. The individual in this role acts as the pivotal clinical decision-maker during their assigned shift, responsible for maintaining continuity of care, ensuring patient and staff safety, and overseeing the delivery of safe, high-quality outcomes in dialysis care. Working typically on a schedule that includes Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Thursday -- featuring 10+ hour days -- the Charge Nurse plays an instrumental role in guiding direct patient care staff through daily operations, employee support, and performance management. The Charge Nurse collaborates closely with the Facility Administrator to manage staffing, participate in hiring and disciplinary actions, and ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Additionally, the role involves participating in patient care plan meetings, training and orienting new staff, and monitoring adherence to safe clinical practices and OSHA requirements.
This position requires the Charge Nurse to continuously monitor patient conditions and dialysis treatment processes, acting as the clinical expert and resource for nursing staff. Responsibilities extend to medication administration per physician orders, supervising documentation, managing patient admissions, and educating patients and their families about end-stage renal disease and dialysis therapy. The Charge Nurse also supports quality assurance initiatives, equipment safety, and efficient resource utilization while serving as a critical liaison between patients, nursing staff, physicians, and facility leadership. Emphasis is placed on clinical expertise, leadership skills, and strong communication capabilities to meet the complexities of renal care effectively.
The successful candidate will have a grounded understanding of nursing principles, dialysis techniques, and regulatory compliance, coupled with supervisory experience and the ability to manage emergency situations effectively. The compensation for this position is competitive and varies depending on qualifications and work location, with an hourly rate ranging from $23 to $72. FMCNA offers an extensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 401(k) plan with company match; paid time off; parental leave; and performance bonuses. This role is an ideal opportunity for a motivated, compassionate nurse leader looking to advance in the specialized field of dialysis care within a supportive and mission-driven organization.
