The Pediatric Gastroenterology Clinic at Baylor Scott & White McLane Children's Medical Center is seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinic Registered Nurse to join their full-time team. This role operates on a Monday through Friday day shift schedule from 8 am to 5 pm, with no weekend requirements, providing work-life balance for the nurse. The Clinic RN will play a pivotal role in patient care coordination, delivering specialized nursing expertise to ensure that pediatric patients with gastrointestinal issues receive personalized and meticulous nursing evaluation and treatment. This position requires the nurse to assess patient conditions, identify health concerns, design and implement tailored care plans, and continuously monitor patient progress. The goal is to facilitate safe and effective healthcare experiences, prevent complications, and reduce delays during healthcare encounters.
The Clinic Registered Nurse will actively collaborate with interdisciplinary teams as well as the patients’ families and communities to establish supportive care plans grounded in evidence-based strategies. Nurses are encouraged to participate enthusiastically in quality improvement initiatives, support practice changes based on current research, and engage in ongoing professional learning. By building strong relationships with patients and families, this nurse will manage both emotional and physical distress, promoting comfort and healing in a setting that prioritizes pediatric well-being. The role also demands strong communication skills to educate patients, families, staff, and the community about healthcare principles and disease prevention.
Key success factors for the role include a foundation built on solid nursing values and patient care standards, familiarity with pertinent laws, regulations, and certification requirements, and a comprehensive awareness of medical terminology and health promotion strategies. Nursing ethics, patient privacy, critical thinking, problem-solving, and proficiency with electronic medical records and software such as Microsoft Office also form essential skill components.
