Job Description
Unity Care NW is a respected private, non-profit, federally qualified health center (FQHC) that has been committed to serving the greater Whatcom County community since 1982. With two convenient clinic locations in Bellingham and Ferndale, this healthcare organization offers an extensive range of services including primary medical care, behavioral health support, dental care, and pharmacy services. The center is dedicated to serving a diverse and often underserved patient population across all age groups, embodying its mission to increase the years of healthy life within the communities it serves. Unity Care NW is supported by a compassionate and skilled workforce of more than 300 employees who share the values of respect, integrity, accountability, collaboration, and innovation. This healthcare provider is known not only for its comprehensive care services but also for its welcoming and inclusive environment, where each individual patient and staff member is valued and respected.
The role we are currently hiring for is Clinic Receptionist, a critical position responsible for fostering a positive and welcoming first impression of Unity Care NW. This full-time position offers a standard hourly wage starting from $22.71 up to $26.71, with the potential to earn up to $30.66 per hour over time, plus a 10% Saturday shift differential. The typical workweek consists of 40 hours spread over five 8-hour days, including every Saturday, with Sundays and a consistent weekday off. The clinic receptionist will provide front desk support, welcoming patients and visitors, managing check-ins, and ensuring smooth appointment scheduling. This role demands excellent communication skills, proficiency in various electronic clinical systems including electronic medical records (EMR), and strong data entry accuracy with a keyboard speed of 35-40 words per minute. Experience in customer service, particularly in medical or dental office settings, is preferred, as is familiarity with payment systems and Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Outlook.
Unity Care NW offers a collaborative and friendly team environment where employees are supported and valued. The organization provides a competitive compensation package. In addition to a rewarding work experience, the clinic receptionist will have access to a generous benefits plan that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan with employer match after one year, paid holidays, and generous paid time off that starts at 108 hours annually and increases to 196 hours per year over time. Additional benefits include paid sick leave, bereavement and jury duty leave, life and AD&D insurance, a variety of supplemental insurance options, flexible spending accounts, employee assistance programs, transportation incentives, and wellness reimbursements. Unique programs such as medical hardship payroll loans, employee referral bonuses, and will preparation services further enrich the employment experience at Unity Care NW.
At Unity Care NW, safety is a priority; thus, new employees are required to have up-to-date influenza vaccinations and are strongly encouraged to keep current with COVID-19 vaccinations as part of the Employee Health Program. This clinic receptionist opportunity not only presents a chance to join a respected healthcare organization but also a career path where the impacts made extend directly into the health and well-being of the community served. Prospective candidates who align with the organization’s values and mission and possess relevant experience and skills are encouraged to apply through the official careers page. This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that values respect, integrity, and collaboration while making a tangible difference every day in the lives of others.
