Job Description
The hiring organization is a healthcare establishment dedicated to providing quality health care services primarily to Native Hawaiians and the entire population of Hawai'i. Inspired by the legacy of Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV, this organization operates under a mission to perpetually improve the well-being of the community it serves through compassionate, respectful, and excellent healthcare practices. The institution stands out for its deep-rooted values of compassion, aloha, respect, and excellence, which collectively underpin every aspect of its service delivery and internal culture. With a clear commitment to equal opportunity employment, including provisions for disability accommodations and veterans, the organization seeks to foster a diverse and inclusive workforce.
The position available is that of a Housekeeping Aide working across clinic locations within the healthcare system. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all clinic environments are maintained in a clean, orderly, and hygienic condition in compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. The aide will be responsible for daily housekeeping duties, including the collection and proper disposal of biohazard materials, hospital trash, and soiled linens, highlighting the critical role they play in infection control and patient safety. The aide will also maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and operate various cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, mop wringers, scrubbing machines, and carpet extractors to uphold clinic sanitation standards.
This role demands significant physical activity, including pushing, pulling, lifting of items up to and beyond 40 pounds, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and occasional climbing. The working environment exposes the aide to both indoor and outdoor conditions as well as occasional contact with hazardous chemicals, infectious diseases, and body fluids, requiring vigilance and adherence to safety protocols. The aide must navigate small, confined spaces and potentially hazardous conditions, making the role suitable for a physically capable individual with a keen eye for detail and safety.
The ideal candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, to ensure clear understanding of procedures and communication with healthcare staff. While prior experience as a housekeeping aide in a healthcare or clinical setting is preferred, it is not mandatory, providing an opportunity for motivated individuals to develop their skills within a supportive organizational culture. This is an excellent opportunity for those seeking to work in a meaningful role that supports the broader mission of improving healthcare outcomes through a clean and safe clinical environment. By joining this organization, employees become part of a legacy that values compassion, aloha, respect, and excellence in every facet of healthcare service.
