Job Description
The hiring establishment is a residential housing facility comprising 47 studio apartments dedicated to serving a unique community of supported housing clients and New York City Affordable Lottery tenants. This specialized facility caters particularly to chronically homeless individuals who also struggle with chronic health conditions, which may include mental health challenges, physical diagnoses, and/or substance use disorders. The facility operates with a strong commitment to providing a safe, stable living environment that promotes wellness and recovery for its residents, many of whom require ongoing support services. Operating within this context, the organization emphasizes compassionate care, vigilant safety protocols, and effective collaboration among all staff members to ensure that residents receive the respect, dignity, and individualized attention they need to thrive.
The position of Client Care Safety Coordinator (CCSC) is fundamental to the operation of the residential building. This full-time role operates Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., focusing on maintaining an environment that protects the safety and well-being of all residents and visitors on site. The CCSC will be the frontline guardian of the physical premises and serve as a direct care provider aligned with the organization's mission of supporting individuals facing complex life challenges. The role entails overseeing building security by monitoring client activities in all common areas, swiftly reporting and documenting incidents via the agency's incident reporting system, and coordinating with other personnel to address any concerns that might arise. Beyond routine duties, the CCSC must be prepared to respond effectively to emergencies, including employing crisis management skills and intervening appropriately when medical or safety incidents occur, which may involve contacting emergency responders such as 911 and other necessary services.
Additionally, the CCSC functions as the primary point of contact for visitors at the Welcome Center, managing inquiries and ensuring that access protocols are adhered to, thus contributing to a welcoming yet secure environment. Collaboration is a key element of the role, as the CCSC works closely with Case Management staff around client safety concerns, including coordinated apartment inspections to maintain compliance and safety standards. This role demands a professional who is not only attentive and decisive but also compassionate and skilled in communicating concerning sensitive issues that directly impact the vulnerable population served. The ability to understand complex safety regulations and to communicate clearly in both oral and written forms is essential to this position.
This position is pivotal in maintaining the safety infrastructure of the residential site and supporting residents in overcoming significant health and social challenges through a safe and secure housing environment. The CCSC's contributions are vital to the success of the overall program, and flexibility is required as the needs of the program and its clients evolve. In sum, the Client Care Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in fostering a stable and secure community where residents can focus on their health, recovery, and overall well-being without the added burden of safety concerns. This role offers an important opportunity for candidates passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of disadvantaged and chronically homeless individuals through dedicated, compassionate service and vigilant safety oversight.
