The role of a Porter at Gate Gourmet is integral to maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation standards that are crucial for food safety and operational efficiency. The Porter is responsible for cleaning various work areas including floors, walls, equipment, dish rooms, coolers, utility areas, locker rooms, restrooms, office spaces, and transportation zones both inside and outside the facility. This position requires individuals who are motivated, engaged, and adaptable to varied schedules which may include weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary. The Porter plays a vital role in upholding sanitation standards in compliance with corporate requirements, ensuring a safe and pleasant work environment for all colleagues.

Porters at Gate Gourmet will be expected to carry out diverse cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash, and handling chemicals and industrial cleaning materials safely. The job demands physical stamina to lift, push, pull, and move weights up to fifty pounds frequently during shifts that may last 8 hours or more, and also requires the ability to endure exposure to extreme temperature changes and noise. Effective communication skills are necessary to read and complete required forms and to interact clearly with supervisors and team members.
