This full-time Delivery Driver role based in Belton, TX, offers an hourly starting pay of $18 and involves the transportation and delivery of lumber, building materials, hardware, and other products to customers' homes, construction sites, or business locations. The position requires the ability to operate company vehicles safely, occasionally utilizing forklifts, while complying with all federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT requirements for commercial motor vehicle operation. The driver will be responsible for maintaining accurate delivery-related documentation, collecting payments on COD orders, and providing excellent customer service by acting as a liaison between customers and store personnel.
In addition to driving, the role involves assisting in the yard and warehouse by stocking, loading, and organizing materials. The driver must maintain the cleanliness and maintenance standards of delivery vehicles, perform routine safety inspections, and fully participate in company training programs. Required qualifications include age restrictions (minimum 23 years), successful completion of company training and certifications (including forklift certification), and eligibility to meet regulated DOT driving qualifications based on the vehicle operated (non-CDL, CDL-B, or CDL-A). Job Requirements
- Valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle operated
- Must be 23 years of age or older
- Able to meet driver eligibility guidelines of the company
- Must successfully complete all company training and certification requirements regarding equipment usage
- Qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle under FMCSR rules if applicable, including current and unrestricted DOT physical card
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds routinely and occasionally move up to 100 pounds
- Ability to push and/or pull 50-pound loads
- Ability to use navigation tools and plan delivery routes
- Ability to maintain basic logs and records
- Ability to remain professional and courteous at all times
- Must be able to use three-point hold when entering trucks or forklifts
- Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Must be able to work in various types of weather
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public and understand highway signs and signals
- Hold a valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle being operated
- Successful completion of on-the-job training including levels 1 and 2 of positional training
- Must be 23 years of age or older
- Must successfully complete all company training and certification requirements regarding equipment usage, including obtaining McCoy's forklift certification
- Must be qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle under FMCSR rules with current and unrestricted DOT physical card if required
- Ability to use navigation tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, and/or maps
- Ability to carry out instructions without constant supervision
Job Duties
- Drives company vehicles to deliver lumber, building materials, hardware, and other building and maintenance supplies to customers' homes, construction sites, or places of business
- Collects payment from customers on COD orders and records customer information according to Standard Operating Procedures
- Verifies order details and obtains customer signature on store copy of delivery ticket
- Follows directions or uses navigation tools to locate delivery addresses or locations efficiently
- Records all pertinent delivery information as needed for accurate tracking
- Collects and organizes required paperwork for delivery and transfer activity
- Treats all customers with courtesy and respect, acting as a customer service liaison between the site customer and store personnel, including listening to and assisting in resolving customer complaints
- Informs store management or personnel of any customer complaints or requests in a timely manner
- Collects or picks up empty containers, rejected or unsold merchandise from delivery sites as directed
- Loads vehicle safely and accurately
- Maintains the cleanliness and appearance of the inside and outside of delivery vehicles
- Performs routine safety checks on vehicles according to company guidelines
- Assists in the yard and warehouse with stocking, loading, and organizing materials
- Assists customers in the yard with loading material and product questions when not driving a delivery truck
- Complies with all company safety standards, and all federal, state, and local laws
- Operates a forklift
- Attends all store meetings and training sessions
- Performs other related duties as assigned
