Job Description
Cheney Brothers is a leading foodservice distributor renowned for its commitment to quality and customer service. With a rich history and a family-oriented culture, Cheney Brothers operates as a subsidiary of Performance Food Group, supporting a robust network that delivers food and related products to restaurants, schools, hospitals, and other foodservice operations. The company prides itself on its innovative strategies, world-class leadership, and comprehensive benefit programs designed to support and motivate its workforce. Employing more than 3,000 dedicated associates, Cheney Brothers values a safe, inclusive, and rewarding working environment that encourages professional growth and success. The company’s mission is rooted in backing its customers by first investing in its people, fostering a culture where employees can achieve their full potential and drive the company forward.
This role is for a CDL-B Driver, a critical position within Cheney Brothers responsible for the safe and timely delivery of food and food-related products. The driver plays an essential role in maintaining the integrity of the country’s food supply chain by ensuring products arrive at their destination on schedule and in excellent condition. Beyond transportation, the CDL-B Driver serves as a key representative of Cheney Brothers, building strong, trusting relationships with customers through professional and courteous interactions. This is a full-time position with an hourly pay rate of $20.00, offering the stability of daily dispatch at 7:00 am with return home each day. Drivers typically work Sunday through Saturday with one day off during the week, providing a reliable schedule.
The position requires driving tractor-trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight deliveries. Responsibilities include performing necessary safety checks, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and reporting any vehicle or freight issues promptly. Drivers will manage all aspects of delivery, including loading and unloading products, verifying orders with customers, collecting payments when required, and completing accurate documentation. The job demands physical activity, including hand-lifting and the use of equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to move product cases ranging in weight typically from 10 to 90 pounds.
Working at Cheney Brothers also means enjoying a competitive benefits package from day one, which includes health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. The company fosters a culture of recognition, respect, and growth opportunities, making it an excellent choice for drivers seeking a rewarding career in food distribution. With a focus on safety, professionalism, and team collaboration, this role provides not just a job, but a future with a leading industry player committed to the success of its people and customers.
