The position available is for a CDL-B Driver, a vital role within the company that supports America's food distribution system by ensuring timely and safe delivery of food products. This role requires early morning dispatch between 3 AM and 5 AM, operating Monday through Friday, with a competitive hourly wage of $28.84. The CDL-B Driver is responsible for driving tractor trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight assignments. The driver plays a key role in maintaining the quality and safety of deliveries while adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety protocols.

As the face of Performance Foodservice to customers, drivers build lasting relationships through professional communication and reliable service. Responsibilities include conducting thorough vehicle safety checks, ensuring cargo is properly loaded and secured, completing accurate delivery documentation, and managing cash or check collections where necessary. Drivers also perform duties such as unloading deliveries, handling customer returns, maintaining clean trailers and equipment, and ensuring compliance with DOT hours of service logging. Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Valid CDL-B license
  • 6-12 months of driving experience
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new one
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move product cases of varying weight

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent

Job Duties

  • Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
  • Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of loaded products
  • Checks and completes all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
  • Moves tractor to loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unloads products from trailers and transports items into designated customer storage areas
  • Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders
  • Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
  • Collects money where required
  • Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
  • Ensures tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and always secured
  • Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and completes necessary paperwork
  • Unloads equipment, materials and removes trash from trailers
  • Completes daily record of hours of service and enters log in accordance with DOT requirements
  • Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area
  • Secures all equipment and completes paperwork at end of shift
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
