The role of the Entry Level Driver Trainee at Performance Foodservice is a crucial position designed to train individuals in the operation of tractor-trailers and straight trucks for intrastate and interstate delivery routes. The Entry Level Driver Trainee works closely with a driver trainer, learning the ropes by riding along and assisting with delivery tasks. Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • high school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • valid CDL B license
  • able to attain CDL permit and DOT health card
  • clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • pass post offer drug test
  • pass road test
  • able to hand-lift and move product cases weighing approximately 60 to 90 pounds
  • meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • internal PFG candidates must have 1 year of service in good standing
  • able to attain CDL Permit and DOT Health Card
  • 6 months with a CDL B
  • valid CDL B
  • must be 21 years of age
  • meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • pass post offer drug test
  • pass road test
  • attains or has valid current DOT Health Card
  • able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight

Job Duties

  • Attend and successfully complete PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program
  • ride with and assist driver trainer in executing deliveries
  • perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections
  • follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines
  • inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • unload products and transport items into designated customer storage areas
  • perform damage control checks and verify delivery with customers
  • ensure tractor, trailer and freight are appropriately locked and secured
  • unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
  • complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log
  • perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean
  • perform other related duties as assigned
