The position operates intrastate and interstate and involves delivering and unloading various food and food-related products to customers. Shifts are Monday through Friday, with an early dispatch window between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., and the position offers a competitive hourly wage of $28.84.\n\nThe Driver Trainee will participate in Performance Foodservice's structured training programs, including the Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program, ensuring all training documentation is complete and maintained per company standards. Responsibilities will include riding with and assisting trainer drivers, performing thorough safety checks of vehicles and trailers according to Department of Transportation regulations, following all company safe driving policies, and executing deliveries according to prescribed route schedules. Furthermore, trainees will engage professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues, ensuring customer service practices and preferred work methods are upheld, and will perform various duties such as inspecting freight, handling documentation, collecting payments, and conducting necessary housekeeping tasks to maintain cleanliness and safety.\n\nThe role also demands compliance with stringent safety standards, including pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, secure loading and unloading of goods, and adherence to DOT requirements including the completion of daily hours of service logs. The position expects physical capability to manually handle freight, including lifting and utilizing equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to move product cases weighing between 60 to 90 pounds, varying by location. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- ability to attain CDL permit and DOT health card
- must be 21 years of age
- valid CDL B license
- six months experience with CDL B
- clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- pass post offer drug test
- pass road test
- physically able to lift and handle product cases between 60 to 90 pounds
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Attend and successfully complete company entry level driver trainee or dock to driver training program
- ride with and assist driver trainer in executing deliveries as required
- perform all required safety checks including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight and complete all required paperwork
- drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
