Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), operates as a broadline distributor, playing a vital role in the food supply chain by delivering quality food products to a diverse range of customers. The company serves an array of clients including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. This extensive customer base is supported by a dedicated team comprising sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other specialists who work closely with customers to enhance their operations through expert advice on menu development, product selection, and operational strategies. Performance Foodservice is committed not just to delivering food, but also to empowering independent restaurant owners to achieve their business ambitions, fostering growth and innovation within the foodservice industry.

Performance Foodservice is currently seeking CDL-B Drivers to join their dynamic team, offering competitive pay starting at $210 per day or more depending on route components. Employment includes a five-day work week with dispatching scheduled between midnight and 6 AM, accommodating a range of schedules. Additionally, new hires benefit from a generous $4,000 sign-on bonus. The company emphasizes a safe and inclusive working environment that promotes rewards, recognition, and respect among its employees. The compensation package extends beyond basic pay to include day-one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and other valuable perks.

In this crucial role, CDL-B Drivers are responsible for transporting food and food service products safely and efficiently across various routes, including intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop assignments. These drivers are the frontline representatives of the company, establishing and maintaining excellent customer relationships by ensuring deliveries arrive on schedule and in good condition. They must adhere strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, conduct thorough vehicle inspections, manage loading and unloading of freight, and complete all required paperwork accurately. Attention to safety, compliance, and customer service is paramount, as drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks while delivering essential goods that support America's food distribution system.

The role demands not only technical driving skills but also strong communication abilities to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers. Drivers perform safety checks such as pre-trip and post-trip inspections, monitor freight security, verify delivery receipts, handle payment collections where applicable, and maintain the cleanliness of their equipment and work areas. They are also responsible for reporting any issues, damages, or discrepancies encountered during their routes, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of the delivery process. With a focus on teamwork within the department, CDL-B Drivers assist with various operational tasks to ensure the company's standards of service excellence are met and exceeded.

In summary, this position at Performance Foodservice offers an exciting opportunity to work within an industry-leading company dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the food supply chain. The company values diversity and equal opportunity, welcoming candidates regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic. Joining this team means becoming part of a respected organization recognized for its commitment to fairness, professional development, and employee wellbeing, while contributing to a mission-critical sector that feeds communities nationwide.
