Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a leading broadline distributor under the Performance Food Group (PFG) umbrella, plays an integral role in the food distribution industry. The company maintains unique, long-lasting relationships with a wide variety of local customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. Backed by a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and seasoned experts, Performance Foodservice not only delivers high-quality and delicious food products but also offers expert advice to help improve operational efficiency, assist with menu development, optimize product selection, and formulate effective operational strategies. The organization prides itself on its commitment to supporting independent restaurant owners and other clients in achieving their business goals.

As an employer, Performance Foodservice fosters a safe and inclusive working environment that emphasizes a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect. Employees benefit from day-one health and wellness coverage, comprehensive education assistance programs, and a competitive 401K plan with employer matching. The company also values growth opportunities, offering stable employment within a vital sector that supports America’s food supply chain, ensuring the essential task of food delivery is handled with professionalism and care.

The CDL-B Driver position at Performance Foodservice is a key role within the company’s logistics and distribution operations. This full-time role typically follows a five-day work week schedule with dispatching hours that fall between midnight and 6 am. Pay starts at $210 per day or more depending on the specific route components, and the position also offers a substantial $4,000 sign-on bonus as an incentive. Drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes, which may include local deliveries, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, or drive-and-drop routes. The primary responsibility is to ensure the safe and timely delivery and unloading of food and food-related products in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations.

As the public face of Performance Foodservice on delivery routes, CDL-B Drivers build positive and lasting relationships with customers through professional communication and interaction. They perform critical duties including vehicle safety inspections, paperwork management, product handling, and compliance with federal, state, and company regulations related to transportation and logistics. Additional responsibilities include performing damage control checks, obtaining customer signatures for delivered goods, handling payments when necessary, and managing returns or damaged goods appropriately. Throughout their shifts, drivers are expected to maintain cleanliness and order in their vehicles and loading areas, contributing proactively to company standards for safety and efficiency.

This position demands physical capabilities including the ability to hand-lift and use equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to maneuver product cases weighing between 10-35 pounds, with occasional loads of up to 60-90 pounds. The role requires a valid CDL-B license, at least 12 months of commercial driving experience, and the ability to meet all state licensing and certification requirements. Successful candidates must also have a clean Motor Vehicle Report for the past three years, pass a post-offer drug test, a criminal background check, and a road test, and either possess or be able to secure a DOT Health Card.

Joining Performance Foodservice means becoming part of a company that not only delivers goods but also delivers on its promises to employees and customers alike. Their dedication to equal employment opportunity and inclusivity ensures a workplace free of discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex, or any other protected characteristic.
