The company serves a diverse clientele that includes independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a dedicated team comprising sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts, Performance Foodservice goes beyond simple distribution by offering valuable advice on menu development, operational strategies, and product selection. This holistic approach helps local businesses thrive while delivering quality food products efficiently and reliably.

Performance Foodservice places a strong emphasis on fostering long-term relationships and supporting independent restaurant owners in achieving their business dreams. Recognized for its inclusivity and equitable employment practices, the company maintains an environment that celebrates diversity and is dedicated to equal opportunity for all employees, regardless of race, color, gender, or any other protected status. This inclusive culture is embedded in their core values and contributes to a supportive, respectful workplace.

The Shuttle Driver role at Performance Foodservice is a critical position within the logistics and transportation functions of the company. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting empty trailers to Operating Company warehouse locations and returning full trailers to domicile or shuttle yard locations. This role ensures smooth, timely, and safe movement of goods across different routes, adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations as well as company policies on safety and operational efficiency.

This position requires operating various types of vehicles, including tandem trailers, tractor trailers, and straight trucks, on both intrastate and interstate routes. Drivers must be mindful of safety standards and company protocols while ensuring all freight is transported securely and efficiently. The job demands interpersonal skills as well, as drivers must communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers to provide accurate information and maintain a cooperative environment.

The scheduled work week is Sunday through Thursday, with shift hours starting at 4 pm and ending at 11 pm, though start times may vary depending on the assigned route. Employees in this role earn competitive pay, beginning at $25.34 per hour, and have access to an array of benefits from the first day, including health and wellness coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more.

The Shuttle Driver not only contributes to the operational success of Performance Foodservice but also to the broader mission of supporting America’s food distribution system. This role plays a part in ensuring that food products reach their destinations safely and on time, helping maintain the supply chain integrity across multiple sectors.
