In the role of Shuttle Driver, you will be essential in maintaining the efficiency and reliability of our logistics operations. You will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of empty trailers to various warehouse locations and the delivery of loaded trailers back to the designated domicile or shuttle yard. This role demands strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, safe driving practices, and excellent communication skills to interact productively with customers, vendors, and team members. Shuttle Drivers operate a variety of vehicles, including tandem trailers, tractor-trailers, and straight trucks, primarily on intrastate and interstate routes.

Working Sunday through Thursday nights, with occasional Friday shifts for special deliveries, this position offers an average annual salary range of $75,000 to $90,000, along with the potential to earn performance-based bonuses. Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • Work required third shift schedule Sunday - Thursday nights with variable schedules
  • Pass pre-employment drug test
  • Pass road test
  • Valid current DOT health card or ability to secure new DOT health card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate, or other equipment to move and stack product cases/freight weighing approximately 60 to 90 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • 12 plus months of commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL A with doubles endorsement
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to follow safety regulations
  • Strong attention to detail in vehicle and freight inspections

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • Report all safety issues or repairs required
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Ensure all required route paperwork is with tractor trailer load and available upon dispatch
  • Drive and deliver trailers according to predetermined route schedule
  • Perform hook/unhook procedures per safety guidelines
  • Park and store tractor trailers in designated areas
  • Ensure all equipment and freight are appropriately locked and secured
  • Collect and secure damaged goods and customer returns in empty trailer and complete required paperwork
  • Unload equipment, materials, and remove trash from trailers as required
  • Complete daily record of hours of service and enter log according to federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
