As part of the larger Performance Food Group and its subsidiaries, the company ensures world-class leadership, continuous learning opportunities, comprehensive benefit packages, and significant career growth potential for its employees. Recognizing that the foundation of its success is the strength and commitment of its people, Cheney Brothers invests heavily in creating an innovative and inclusive working environment. This environment is defined by respect, recognition, and opportunities that drive professional development and personal achievements. In addition to maintaining high standards within the food distribution sector, Cheney Brothers demonstrates a commitment to equal employment opportunity, diversity, and a transparent pay policy to foster fairness and equal treatment for all employees regardless of various protected characteristics listed under local, state, and federal laws.
The Shuttle Driver position at Cheney Brothers represents a vital role within the company's operations as it directly supports the efficient transportation and movement of goods across warehouse and shuttle yard locations. This full-time role involves working predominantly the Sunday through Thursday night shift, including occasional Fridays for special deliveries, with dispatch times scheduled between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. In this position, the Shuttle Driver is responsible for towing tandem trailers, tractor trailers, or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes, ensuring timely and safe delivery of empty and full trailers loaded with various products essential to the food distribution process. The individual in this role must comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, carry out mandated safety inspections, and maintain meticulous records related to hours of service and vehicle safety. The Shuttle Driver not only handles logistical operations but also serves as a frontline representative of Cheney Brothers by communicating professionally with customers, vendors, and team members to maintain smooth operations and customer satisfaction. This position requires a combination of driving expertise, strict adherence to safety standards, and the physical ability to manage freight handling equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates. Moreover, the company emphasizes a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture that rewards employee contributions and fosters growth opportunities within the essential food distribution network. Employees also enjoy competitive pay, performance-based bonuses, and an attractive benefits package including health and wellness benefits from day one, stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, making this a compelling career path for qualified individuals seeking stability, professional growth, and the chance to contribute to an industry-critical service.
