The role of Shuttle Driver at Performance Foodservice is critical to the smooth and efficient operation of the company’s logistics network. This position involves transporting empty trailers to warehouse locations and delivering full trailers with various products to domicile and shuttle yard locations. Operating intrastate and interstate routes, the Shuttle Driver utilises a tandem trailer, tractor trailer, and/or straight truck to ensure timely and safe delivery of goods in line with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
The Shuttle Driver must perform thorough safety checks before and after trips, inspect trailers to confirm freight is securely loaded, complete route paperwork, and maintain detailed logs in compliance with federal and state regulations. This position requires clear and professional communication with customers, vendors, and co-workers, functioning as a collaborative team member within the department.
Working Sunday through Thursday from 4 pm to 2 am with competitive pay at $300 per night, the Shuttle Driver plays a vital role in maintaining Performance Foodservice’s delivery schedule and operational efficiency. The position also demands adherence to all DOT safety guidelines and company policies, careful management of damaged goods and customer returns, as well as housekeeping duties to keep trailers and loading areas clean. Job Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- 12 months of commercial driving experience
- valid CDL A with doubles endorsement
- must be 21 years of age
- meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
- work required 3rd shift schedule, Sunday Thursday nights
- pass pre-employment drug test
- pass road test
- valid current DOT health card and/or able to secure new DOT health card
- able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift

Job Duties
- Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
- Report all safety issues and/or repairs required
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Ensure all required route paperwork is with tractor trailer load and available upon dispatch
- Drive and deliver trailers according to predetermined route schedule
- Perform hook/unhook procedures per safety guidelines
- Park and store tractor trailers in designated areas
- Ensure all equipment and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured
- Collect and secure damaged goods and customer returns in empty trailer and complete necessary paperwork
- Unload all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required
- Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned
