As a Shuttle Driver at Cheney Brothers, you will play a critical role in the logistics chain by transporting empty trailers to warehouse locations and delivering full trailers loaded with various products to designated domicile or shuttle yard sites. The position offers an average annual pay ranging from $75,000 to $90,000, with potential for performance-based bonuses. The work schedule primarily spans Sunday through Thursday, with occasional Fridays for special deliveries and dispatch times between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. This full-time role is essential in ensuring the seamless movement of goods and maintaining operational efficiency.
The Shuttle Driver operates tandem trailers, tractor trailers, and straight trucks while adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards. The role demands conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, securing freight, complying with safety regulations, maintaining accurate records, and interacting professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers. Job Requirements
- Valid CDL A with doubles endorsement
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- Minimum 12 months commercial driving experience
- Must be 21 years of age
- Meet state licensing and certification requirements
- Clean motor vehicle report for 3 years
- Ability to work Sunday to Thursday 3rd shift schedules
- Pass pre-employment drug and road tests
- Current or obtainable DOT health card
- Ability to hand-lift freight up to approximately 60 to 90 pounds
Job Qualifications
- 12+ months of commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL A with doubles endorsement
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- Must be 21 years of age
- Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
- Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- Work required 3rd shift schedule, Sunday to Thursday nights
- Pass pre-employment drug test
- Pass road test
- Valid current DOT health card or able to secure new DOT health card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move product cases/freight of varying size and weight
Job Duties
- Performs all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- Reports all safety issues and repairs required
- Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Ensures all required route paperwork is with trailer load and available upon dispatch
- Drives and delivers trailers according to predetermined route schedule
- Performs hook and unhook procedures per safety guidelines
