Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline food distributor serving a diverse range of local customers across multiple sectors including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts, Performance Foodservice not only provides high-quality food products but also offers valuable guidance to customers in areas such as menu development, operational strategies, and product selection. The company is committed to building strong, lasting relationships with its clients, helping independent restaurant owners and other food service providers thrive and succeed in their businesses. Known for its reliable delivery and customer-centric approach, Performance Foodservice plays a vital role in the American food distribution industry, supporting local food operations with an extensive selection of products and professional advice.
The Shuttle Driver position at Performance Foodservice is a critical role within the company's logistics and distribution operations. This full-time role is compensated starting at $25.34 per hour, with work scheduled from Sunday through Thursday (specific start times to be confirmed upon hire). The Shuttle Driver's primary responsibility is to transport empty trailers to various Operating Company warehouse locations and deliver full trailers loaded with various food products back to designated domicile or shuttle yard locations. This position requires safe and timely operation of tandem trailers, tractor trailers, and straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes, adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
The role also includes performing essential safety inspections and pre/post-trip checks to ensure vehicle compliance with DOT and company safety standards. The Shuttle Driver must be able to communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, contributing to a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment characterized by a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect.
Additional duties include inspecting trailers for properly loaded and secured freight, completing necessary route paperwork, performing hook/unhook procedures, parking and storing equipment correctly, securing equipment and freight, handling damaged goods or customer returns, unloading equipment and materials, completing mandated hours-of-service logs, and maintaining clean and organized trailer and dock areas. This role demands physical stamina, including the ability to hand-lift and use equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates to move freight that can weigh between 10 to 90 pounds.
Performance Foodservice values employee growth, offering competitive pay and benefits from day one. Benefits include health and wellness programs, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and other perks. The company fosters a safe and inclusive environment that emphasizes respect for all employees and equal employment opportunities, ensuring a workplace free from discrimination based on race, sex, age, disability, or other protected characteristics.
This position is ideal for individuals with a valid CDL-A license with doubles endorsement and at least 12 months of commercial driving experience who seek a rewarding career in transportation logistics within the food distribution industry. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, pass all relevant drug tests and background checks, hold a clean motor vehicle record for the last three years, and have or be able to obtain a current DOT health card. Performance Foodservice values safety, professionalism, and teamwork, providing an excellent opportunity to build a career supporting America's food supply chain.
