The Driver, Dedicated Backhaul role at PFG Customized Distribution serves as a critical position within the food supply chain. Food and food service delivery Drivers ensure that customers receive their products on time, in excellent condition, and help maintain strong relationships with customers by representing the company professionally. This position requires driving tractor-trailers, tandem trailers, and/or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road, shuttle, overnight, and drive and drop routes. The job involves picking up logistics loads or other food and non-food product loads and delivering them safely and timely in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Drivers in this role are responsible for conducting thorough inspections of loads and paperwork, such as product counts, invoices, and quality checks. They routinely communicate with supervisors to confirm routes, loads, and schedules and report any issues or changes promptly. Additionally, they secure equipment and complete paperwork at the end of shifts, contributing to an efficient and organized distribution process. This role is not only essential to the company's operations but also offers a supportive and inclusive culture, rewarding dedication, teamwork, and respect. The position includes schedule shifts on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with dispatching around 8 pm and a weekly base pay of $670. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 6 months commercial driving experience
- valid CDL-A license
- at least 21 years old
- meet state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
- clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- pass post offer drug test
- pass criminal background check
- pass road test
- current or able to obtain DOT Health Card
- ability to hand-lift and use equipment to move product cases and freight
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- 6 months commercial driving experience
- valid CDL-A
- must be 21+ years of age
- meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
- pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- pass road test
- attains or has valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift, with product weights generally ranging from 10-35 pounds and occasionally between approximately 60 and 90 pounds depending on location
Job Duties
- Drive to assigned supplier/vendor and/or PFG warehouse locations according to a predetermined route and delivery schedule
- deliver assigned loads back to PFG warehouse locations for receiving into inventory
- perform appropriate load and paperwork inspections including product counts, invoices, and quality checks
- check and complete all required paperwork associated with backhaul operations accurately and legibly
- routinely check in with direct supervisor to confirm route, load, and schedule
- advise direct supervisor of load drop-off/pick-up issues, schedule changes, and other related information
- secure all equipment and complete necessary paperwork at the end of the shift
- perform other related duties as assigned
