The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is a critical position within the company’s logistics and supply chain operations. In this position, drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes including intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes. The primary responsibility is to deliver and unload food-related products safely, efficiently, and in accordance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Drivers are expected to uphold high standards of professionalism when interacting with customers, vendors, and coworkers, providing prompt and accurate responses to inquiries and fostering positive relationships that represent the company well.

This role also involves thorough pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of vehicles and trailers to ensure compliance with DOT guidelines and company safety policies. Drivers must verify the secure loading of freight, accurately perform count checks and paperwork related to the shipments, and ensure that all freight is properly locked or secured during transport. Handling and unloading damaged goods or customer returns in a safe manner and completing necessary documentation are also key duties. Additionally, drivers are responsible for maintaining detailed records of hours of service and other relevant data in compliance with DOT and company policies. The position requires physical capability to lift and move freight typically ranging from 60 to 90 pounds and use equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates.
