Job Description
CrossCountry Freight Solutions (CCFS) is a leading transportation company dedicated to delivering exceptional freight solutions across the Western and Central United States. CCFS prides itself on its advanced use of technology to ensure timely, reliable deliveries while maintaining a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and safety. The company fosters a culture of universal prosperity, seeking to create value not only for its customers but also for its team members and the communities it serves. Located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, CCFS is well-positioned to provide efficient route delivery services with a focus on operational excellence. Known for its innovative approach within the freight industry, CCFS has developed a reputation as a trustworthy partner for businesses requiring dependable transportation and logistics services.
The Class A Route Delivery Driver role at CrossCountry Freight Solutions is a full-time, non-exempt position based in Sioux Falls, operating a Monday through Friday schedule from 7 AM to 5 PM, with a competitive starting pay of $33.00 per hour. This position reports directly to the Service Center Manager and requires a dedicated professional who prioritizes safety and customer service. As a CDL A driver, you will be responsible for the safe operation of company motor vehicles to transport a variety of freight. Your duties will include careful adherence to delivery schedules and regulations while ensuring all freight is handled with care during loading and unloading operations.
In this role, you will conduct critical pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring the vehicle is in safe operating condition before hitting the road. Your responsibilities also include coordinating with dispatch and supervisors to deliver and pick up freight from customer locations and terminals accurately. A significant aspect of the job involves managing shipping documentation to comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) inspections and company policies. Whether manually or mechanically assisted, you will handle freight ranging in size and weight, ensuring that all items are secured and transported efficiently.
The ideal candidate will have a valid Class A CDL, be at least 21 years old, and possess minimum one year of commercial driving experience. Candidates must also maintain a clean driving record without DUI or DWI offenses in the past three years and no more than three traffic violations during the same period. Additionally, candidates must hold or be willing to obtain Hazmat and Tanker endorsements, with renewal costs reimbursed by the company. This role also requires successful completion of a pre-employment skills assessment, highlighting CCFS's commitment to safety and professionalism.
Physically, the role demands the ability to frequently enter and exit the commercial vehicle, safely maneuver heavy freight and pallets up to 2,500 pounds using mechanical aids, and carry up to 40 pounds of freight for short distances. The driver must be capable of performing essential vehicle handling tasks, including hooking and unhooking commercial combinations, operating landing gear and fifth wheel release levers, securing safety chains, managing cargo doors, and performing routine vehicle maintenance such as fueling and oil and coolant level checks. These requirements reflect the physically active nature of the position and the importance of driver vigilance and vehicle upkeep.
Joining CrossCountry Freight Solutions means becoming part of a team that values integrity, teamwork, and customer-focused service. CCFS offers a stable work environment with opportunities for professional growth and development within the logistics and transportation sector. If you are a motivated, safety-conscious driver looking for a rewarding career with competitive pay and consistent hours, this CDL A Route Delivery Driver position at CrossCountry Freight Solutions is an excellent opportunity to advance your career while contributing to a respected transportation company.
