The Class A Route Delivery Driver role at CrossCountry Freight Solutions is a critical position within our Operations department. As a CDL A Route Delivery Driver, you will be operating company motor vehicles to transfer freight efficiently and safely between specified locations, adhering to schedules to meet customer expectations. This role is classified as non-exempt with a work schedule from Monday to Friday, 6 am to 3 pm, making it an attractive option for those seeking consistent weekday employment. In this role, you will be responsible for various tasks including conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, safely loading and unloading freight, sorting and palletizing shipments, and ensuring all deliveries are compliant with government regulations as well as company policies. You will also handle shipping documentation, ensuring that all paperwork required for Department of Transportation (DOT) inspections and shipments accompanies the freight. The job demands a strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and a dedication to safety protocols.

Job Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Minimum of 1 year commercial driving experience
  • No DUIs or DWIs in past 3 years
  • No more than 3 traffic violations in past 3 years
  • Must have Hazmat and Tanker endorsements or be willing to obtain
  • Successful completion of pre-employment skills assessment

Job Duties

  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Deliver and/or pick up freight to/from customer locations and/or a terminal as instructed by dispatch or the immediate supervisor
  • Ensure all shipping documentation is available for DOT inspection and appropriate paperwork accompanies the shipment to the delivery point
  • Load and/or unload a wide variety of freight onto and off a company motor vehicle, at customer locations and at the terminal, with or without mechanical assistance depending on the size of freight
  • Sort, palletize, and reload freight as necessary
  • Complete required paperwork in accordance with government regulations and company procedures
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers to provide updates and resolve issues
