Job Description
PFG Customized Distribution is a leading provider in the food supply chain industry, catering to some of the most recognized national chain restaurants across the United States. With a dedicated focus on customized distribution services, PFG Customized handles key accounts including Cracker Barrel, TGI Friday's, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, and Ruby Tuesday. Serving customers not only throughout the U.S. but also in more than 40 countries worldwide, the company excels at providing centralized contact points for product lines, menu changes, and account coordination, ensuring that their clients receive personalized and efficient service tailored to their unique needs.
As a subsidiary of Performance Food Group, PFG Customized Distribution embodies a culture that values safety, respect, and inclusiveness. The company offers competitive pay and benefits, including day 1 health and wellness coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, among others. This creates a rewarding work environment where drivers and all team members feel recognized and supported in their roles.
The CDL-A Driver position with PFG Customized Distribution is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of America’s food supply system. Drivers will be responsible for driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes, including intrastate and interstate trips, local deliveries, over-the-road (OTR) assignments, shuttle runs, and overnight drive and drop routes. The routes are a mix of solo and team assignments with out-of-state layovers occurring twice per week. This position requires an interstate license without K restrictions and a demonstrated ability to safely operate newer trucks equipped with automatic transmissions. Drivers will be involved in ramp work, handling touch freight, and managing breakdown mixed pallets.
This role is much more than simply transporting goods; CDL-A Drivers at PFG Customized Distribution serve as the company’s representatives, maintaining excellent communication and building lasting relationships with customers, vendors, and fellow team members. The position demands strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, meticulous attention to safety checks (including pre-trip and post-trip inspections), accurate completion of paperwork, and ensuring freight is loaded, secured, transported, and unloaded safely and efficiently.
Beyond driving duties, these drivers must be physically capable of lifting and moving products with the aid of equipment, such as two-wheelers and lift gates, handling freight that typically weighs between 60 to 90 pounds. Additionally, strong English language proficiency is required for proper communication and documentation.
Working as a CDL-A Driver at PFG Customized Distribution offers an exceptional opportunity for individuals seeking meaningful and stable employment in an essential industry. The company is committed to upholding equal employment opportunity principles for all applicants and employees, reinforcing an inclusive workplace free from discrimination.
