With a rich history and extensive network, Cheney Brothers serves a wide variety of clients, including restaurants, schools, and healthcare facilities. The company is recognized for its innovative approach to supply chain management, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of essential goods across multiple regions. Employing over 3,000 dedicated associates, Cheney Brothers fosters a supportive and inclusive workplace culture focused on employee growth, engagement, and well-being. Their comprehensive benefits package and career development opportunities make it an employer of choice in the food service industry.

The role of Dedicated Backhaul Driver at Cheney Brothers is pivotal within the food supply chain, ensuring the reliable transport of food and food-related products. This position involves driving tractor-trailers and straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes to pick up and deliver loads on predetermined schedules. As a frontline representative of the company, the driver plays a crucial role in building lasting relationships with customers through professional interactions and dependable service. The position operates primarily Monday through Friday, including over-the-road (OTR) assignments, with dispatch beginning early Monday morning and return by Friday. The average annual salary for this role is approximately $85,000, reflecting the importance and responsibility inherent in the position.

Beyond the competitive pay, Cheney Brothers offers extensive health and wellness benefits, including employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, and paid time off, demonstrating their commitment to employee satisfaction and retention. The company emphasizes a safe and inclusive work environment, promoting a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect among its workforce. Drivers are expected to perform critical operational duties, including accurate load inspections, timely deliveries, and compliance with Department of Transportation regulations.

This role requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within the logistics team. Drivers must routinely check in with supervisors, maintain detailed records of loads and deliveries, and manage equipment securely at the end of shifts. The job demands physical capability to handle freight, often weighing between 10 and 90 pounds, and to use necessary equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates. Cheney Brothers values safety and compliance, mandating valid CDL-A licensing, a clean driving record, and passing various tests including drug screening and road tests.

Joining Cheney Brothers as a Dedicated Backhaul Driver means becoming part of a company that values its people as its greatest asset and invests heavily in their development. The position offers growth opportunities within an essential industry that supports America’s food distribution system. It is ideal for professionals seeking a stable and rewarding career with a reputable, forward-thinking company dedicated to excellence in logistics and customer service.
