Employees are encouraged to grow professionally while playing an essential role in supporting America’s food distribution system. The company culture promotes respect, recognition, and teamwork, emphasizing safety and compliance with all applicable regulations.
The role of Entry Level Driver Trainee is a vital starting point for individuals interested in developing a career in commercial driving, specifically operating tractor trailers or straight trucks for intrastate and interstate deliveries. This role involves participating in the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program designed to build the skills and experience necessary to handle local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes. The trainee works under the guidance of a driver trainer, assisting in executing deliveries and learning all aspects of safe driving and vehicle inspection following Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and company policies.
Trainees will be responsible for completing a variety of tasks including conducting pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring proper loading and securing of freight, adhering strictly to safety standards and DOT regulations, and delivering food products to customers with professionalism and accuracy. The role requires excellent communication skills for interacting with customers, vendors, and colleagues, always upholding the company’s preferred customer service practices. Additionally, trainees must maintain accurate paperwork related to freight, hours of service logs, and delivery confirmations.
Covered with a generous pay range of $60,000 to $65,000 annually, paid on a bi-weekly schedule, this position offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule with dispatch hours between 2 and 5 am. It is an attractive opportunity for those seeking steady and gainful employment in logistics and transportation, with supportive training that sets the foundation for long-term growth within the company. Safety is paramount in every aspect of this role, from vehicle operation to handling merchandise, making it critical for trainees to be attentive and diligent.
In summary, the Entry Level Driver Trainee at Performance Foodservice is an excellent entry point into the trucking and logistics industry within a company that prioritizes employee growth, safety, and job satisfaction. Individuals in this role gain hands-on experience driving commercial vehicles while playing an essential part in the timely delivery of food products that support foodservice operations nationwide.
