The position of Class A Lead Support Driver is a full-time, salaried role based in multiple locations including Angier, NC; Raleigh, NC; Cordele, GA; Columbia, SC; and Macon, GA. This role requires travel to various company locations to fill in for regular route drivers during vacation or absence periods and to meet business needs. The Lead Support Driver operates heavy-duty vehicles on intra- and interstate routes, ensuring the proper collection and delivery of food waste to support Denali's recycling operations. This safety-sensitive position requires a clear mind, attention to detail, and commitment to safety for oneself and others on the road. Duties include driving manual and automatic transmission vehicles, operating pallet jacks, performing pre- and post-trip inspections, maintaining equipment cleanliness, and completing all necessary documentation. The driver must also be capable of handling basic equipment repairs and following all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This role involves physical demands such as lifting heavy loads and working in various weather conditions. Job Requirements
- must have Class A CDL license
- clean motor vehicle record
- minimum 23 years old with 2 years tractor-trailer experience or 21 years old with 1 year tractor-trailer experience if truck driving school graduate or military experience
- stable employment history
- pass pre-employment drug screen
- pass pre-employment background check
- able to read and speak English sufficiently
- able to travel as required
- physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds regularly and pull or roll up to 300 pounds
- able to work outside in all weather conditions
- ability to handle unpleasant odors from food waste and farms
Job Qualifications
- Class A CDL license self-certified as a Non-Excepted Interstate driver with the state of issuance
- clean motor vehicle record (MVR) and PSP
- minimum age of 23 with at least 2 years full-time verifiable tractor-trailer experience or 21 with 1 year tractor-trailer experience if a truck driving school graduate or 1 year of military experience
- stable work history
- able to read and speak English proficiently for communication and understanding traffic laws
- preferred 5 years Class A driving experience with no accidents or incidents
- strong time management and route consistency
- good communication and customer service skills
- knowledge of hydraulics is a plus
Job Duties
- Load, haul, and deliver food waste on intra- and interstate routes with multiple stops ranging from 15 to 25 per day by company routing
- operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles according to DOT and local, state, federal laws
- operate manual or electric pallet jack as needed
- utilize pressure washers to clean bins and containers ensuring client locations are clean
- perform pre- and post-trip inspections
- conduct basic repairs on company bins and equipment using hand tools
- maintain cleanliness and upkeep of truck equipment
- use electronic logging system for DOT driver logs and other required records
- maintain and submit paperwork including contamination and service tickets and truck maintenance logs
- report all accidents and injuries immediately to safety manager
