The trainee position is designed to provide extensive, hands-on training in driving both tractor trailers and straight trucks on various routes that may include local, intrastate, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries. Those hired into this position will undergo comprehensive training through PFG's Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program. Key responsibilities include conducting safety checks in line with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, accurately handling and securing freight, maintaining proper documentation, and delivering products while providing excellent customer service. Drivers must comply with all DOT and company safety policies and promptly report any safety issues or concerns.

The role requires effective communication with customers, vendors, and co-workers to ensure smooth delivery operations. Practical duties include assisting with loading and unloading freight, performing damage control checks, handling customer returns, and maintaining vehicle and equipment cleanliness. Additionally, drivers are responsible for ensuring secure transport by locking trailers and securing freight properly. Maintaining daily logs and completing necessary paperwork accurately is essential for regulatory compliance and company procedures.
