Job Description
Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a prominent leader in the United States industrial gas market, specializing in the supply of industrial, medical, and specialty gases, along with hardgoods and related safety products. With a workforce of approximately 18,000 dedicated associates and a commitment to fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and sustainability, Airgas stands out as a company that values diversity and empowers its employees to take initiative and make impactful decisions. As a subsidiary of Air Liquide, a global powerhouse in gases, technologies, and services for industry and healthcare, Airgas benefits from a solid foundation present in 60 countries, employing about 66,500 individuals and serving more than 4 million customers and patients globally. This positions Airgas as a market leader not just nationally but also internationally, delivering sustainable and efficient products while maintaining an inclusive and engaging workplace.
The Class A Driver role based in Ventura, California, is a vital position within Airgas, offering a unique opportunity for drivers who are safety-conscious, professional, and physically active. This position is full-time, typically requiring a reliable 40-45 hour workweek with consistent Monday through Friday scheduling. The role involves the safe and efficient transportation and delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers, operating from an Airgas branch or plant using company-provided vehicles such as tractor trailers, straight trucks, or box trucks.
Beyond the transportation duties, the driver will engage in hands-on activities including loading and unloading heavy compressed gas cylinders, securing and unsecuring these cylinders safely, and often completing deliveries on customer property using a hand cart. Given the nature of the role, drivers must be prepared for frequent movement in and out of the vehicle, emphasizing the physically demanding and active aspects of this job. Compensation is competitive at $33.00 per hour, with additional incentives such as a $1,000 referral bonus. The position qualifies for a comprehensive benefits package that supports the whole life of the associate. These benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, disability coverage, and more. There is also a strong support system for parents, offering up to 14 weeks of paid childbirth benefit to support growing families, alongside future security benefits like a 401(k) retirement plan with company match, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation time, and sick leave. Remarkably, benefits eligibility begins just 30 days after employment, allowing new hires to quickly access valuable support.
Airgas is steadfast in creating a workplace environment that respects, honors, and values diversity while fostering inclusion across all levels. The company actively encourages applications from all qualified individuals regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or other protected characteristics, believing that diverse perspectives fuel innovation and enhance performance. This commitment extends across its business practices and corporate culture, nurturing an environment where associates can thrive personally and professionally. By joining Airgas as a Class A Driver, candidates not only step into a rewarding career with stable hours and strong benefits but also into a workplace culture dedicated to safety, respect, and continuous growth. The position requires a valid Class A CDL with Hazmat and Airbrake endorsements and a strong safety record, reflecting the importance Airgas places on compliance and professionalism. This role is ideal for motivated individuals who enjoy a dynamic driving job with physical challenges and customer interaction in a reputable and supportive company environment.
