The position of Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Core-Mark is vital to the success of the country’s food supply chain. Delivery drivers play a critical role in ensuring that products reach customers on time and in excellent condition. Beyond the basic duties of transportation and delivery, drivers serve as the face of Core-Mark, establishing and maintaining strong relationships with customers by providing reliable and professional service. Working a four-day workweek Monday through Friday with a competitive pay rate of $26 per hour, drivers typically dispatch between 3:00 AM and 6:00 AM to efficiently meet delivery schedules. This role involves adhering to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies, performing safety inspections, managing freight accurately, and ensuring compliance with proper documentation and customer verification. Drivers must also handle product returns, damaged goods, and maintain cleanliness and order of their equipment and work area. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 12 months commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A license
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
- Clean motor vehicle report for past three years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Attain or have current DOT Health Card or be able to secure new DOT Health Card
- Ability to hand-lift and use equipment to move product cases and freight
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- 12+ months commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A
- Must be 21+ years of age
- Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
Job Duties
- Perform all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- Inspect tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed
- Report all safety issues and/or repairs required
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Immediately report all safety hazards
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of loaded products
- Complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
- Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- Unload products from trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
- Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
- Collect money where required
- Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
- Ensure that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
- Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean
- Secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at end of shift
- Perform other related duties as assigned
