The Driver CDL-A position at Core-Mark is a key role responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks to deliver and unload food and related products. Drivers perform routes that can be intrastate or interstate, local or over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop, accommodating both day and night schedules on a 4-day workweek. This position offers a competitive salary range averaging between $75,000 and $80,000, along with a $6,000 sign-on bonus and a $1,000 annual retention bonus to reward loyalty and dedication.

The primary purpose of the Driver CDL-A is to ensure the safe, timely, and compliant delivery of products to customers, following all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company guidelines. This position demands professional communication with customers, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring queries are addressed quickly and accurately, and functioning well as a team member. Responsibilities include conducting thorough safety inspections of vehicles and freight, adhering to loading and unloading procedures, completing all necessary paperwork accurately, and maintaining general housekeeping standards for the tractor and trailer. Drivers are also expected to perform damage control checks, verify delivery confirmation with customers, and secure equipment properly at the end of each shift.

Core-Mark values individuals with at least one year of tractor-trailer driving experience, a valid CDL-A license, and who are 21 years of age or older. Compliance with all state licensing requirements and DOT health card standards is mandatory. Drivers must also have the physical capability to handle freight weighing between 10 and up to approximately 90 pounds, utilizing equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to manage product cases efficiently throughout their shifts. Job Duties

  • Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • inspects tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed
  • reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
  • follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • immediately reports all safety hazards
  • inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
  • checks and completes accurately all required paperwork associated with freight
  • moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed
  • drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
  • performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
  • verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
  • collects money (cash or checks) where required
  • loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
  • ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured
  • unloads damaged goods and customer returns and brings them to the driver check-in and completes necessary paperwork
  • unloads all equipment, materials, and removes trash from trailers as required
  • completes daily record of hours of service and enters in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean as required
  • at the end of the shift secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork
  • performs other related duties as assigned
