Job Description

Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a prominent U.S. supplier specializing in industrial, medical, and specialty gases, along with hardgoods and related products. Recognized as one of the largest suppliers of safety products and ammonia products and process chemicals in the United States, Airgas operates with a strong commitment to safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation. With a workforce of over 18,000 associates, Airgas fosters a culture where employees are empowered to share ideas, take initiative, and help drive the company’s success. As a subsidiary of Air Liquide, a global leader in gases and technologies present in 60 countries with about 66,500 employees, Airgas benefits from a vast network serving more than four million customers and patients worldwide.

For the CDL A Driver position based in Santa Fe Springs, CA, Airgas is seeking professional, qualified individuals to contribute to and grow with their team in the dry-ice logistics sector. This role is vital, engaging drivers who will deliver dry ice and carbon dioxide products throughout key locations including San Diego, Palm Springs, Sylmar, Los Angeles, and surrounding areas. The position offers a competitive compensation rate of $36.50 per hour, paid weekly via direct deposit, and provides the opportunity to be part of the Teamsters Union. The schedule is consistent with a Sunday through Thursday 8:00 PM start time, offering a reliable routine for employees.

The CDL A Driver role is comprehensive, requiring the safe and expert handling of both CDL A Dry Van and CDL B Box trucks, with an eye towards learning or utilizing tanker truck skills for CO2 deliveries. Drivers collaborate closely with their team by operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to support loading and unloading duties. They maintain strong communication with customers to ensure delivery accuracy by verifying piece counts against load manifests and retrieving empty dry ice boxes for return. Exceptional customer service skills are essential to support branch operations and continuous improvement. Safety is a paramount concern in this role, as drivers perform pre- and post-trip inspections according to DOT and company standards, ensuring vehicles are maintained safely and cleanly.

Those joining Airgas in this capacity are expected to endorse and foster a drug-free, safety-focused environment, complying with OSHA and DOT regulations while securing cargo properly for transit. This role requires physical capability, such as lifting up to 75 pounds and maneuvering heavier weights with equipment assistance, highlighting the physically engaging nature of the position.

Airgas supports its employees with a robust benefits package aimed at supporting all facets of life, including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance. A notable family support feature includes up to 14 weeks of paid childbirth benefits. Additionally, employees benefit from a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching, tuition assistance programs, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time. Many benefits begin accruing after only 30 days of employment, reflecting Airgas’s commitment to the well-being and security of its workforce.

Joining Airgas means becoming part of a diverse and inclusive workplace that respects and values the unique perspectives and backgrounds of its employees and stakeholders. The company actively encourages applications from candidates of all races, genders, sexual orientations, religions, disabilities, and other protected classifications. Equal employment opportunity is a cornerstone of Airgas’s hiring process, and reasonable accommodations are provided to applicants with disabilities during the recruitment process. The position at Santa Fe Springs offers not only a competitive job but also a meaningful career with a company that values its associates and their contributions to a sustainable future.
