Job Description

The current open position is for a CDL-A Driver, a vital role within the food distribution supply chain. This role involves the operation of tractor trailers or straight trucks to deliver food and related products to customers on intrastate and interstate routes, including local deliveries, over-the-road trips, shuttle services, and overnight assignments. The CDL-A Truck Driver is responsible for ensuring products arrive on time, in good condition, and in compliance with all Department of Transportation regulations. Operating primarily Monday through Saturday with early dispatch times between 1 am and 6 am, this position offers an attractive average annual pay ranging between $85,000 and $100,000, along with a sign-on bonus up to $7,500 depending on experience.

This role is critical for supporting America's food distribution system, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of essential goods to customers. The driver acts as an ambassador for the company, maintaining professionalism while communicating with customers, vendors, and coworkers. Daily responsibilities include conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, adhering to safety protocols, managing freight properly, completing accurate paperwork, securing loads, and maintaining cleanliness in working areas. Drivers must also handle customer interactions including obtaining signatures, collecting payments when required, and managing returns and damaged goods according to company policies. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 12+ months commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attains or has current DOT health card or able to secure new DOT health card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and stack product cases of varying size and weight

Job Duties

  • Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner
  • Functions as a team member within the department and organization, performs any duty assigned to best serve the company
  • Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
  • Reports all safety issues and repairs required
  • Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Performs count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded
  • Checks and completes all required paperwork associated with freight
  • Moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unloads products from the trailer, transports items into designated customer storage areas
  • Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
  • Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
  • Collects money where required
  • Loads customer returns on to trailer and secures trailer doors
  • Ensures tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured
  • Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and completes necessary paperwork
  • Performs daily record of hours of service and enters log in accordance with Federal DOT, state and company requirements
  • Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean
  • Secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
