The scheduled dispatch times are Monday to Friday between 2 am and 6 am, with average annual pay ranging between $85,000 and $100,000.
The CDL-A Driver role is critical within Performance Foodservice's food supply chain, responsible for delivering food and food-related products efficiently, safely, and on time. The driver acts as a key representative of the company, building lasting relationships with customers while adhering to strict Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies. Responsibilities include operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes such as local, intrastate, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive-and-drop routes. The role requires performing pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections, ensuring freight is loaded and secured correctly, reporting safety concerns, maintaining accurate delivery and freight paperwork, and contributing to the overall safety and cleanliness of vehicles and loading areas.
Additional duties include customer interaction to confirm deliveries and address any issues, handling payments, performing damage control for orders, and managing returns. Drivers also maintain compliance with DOT hours of service regulations and company policies, ensure proper locking and securing of trailers and freight, and complete various records and administrative requirements associated with their daily operations. This role demands physical ability to handle freight items typically ranging from 10 to 90 pounds and proficiency in operating equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates.
