Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two or more years of experience driving a tractor trailer, straight truck, or doubles trailer within the last five years preferred
- Valid Class A CDL certification and license
- Some drivers may be required to have a doubles endorsement
- License or operator’s permit held for at least the three years immediately prior to application
- Knowledge of DOT procedures, rules, and requirements
- Proficient computer usage skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Math skills for calculating load size and volume or weight measurements
- Good organization and record keeping skills
- Ability to read, write and speak English
Job Duties
- Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations and policies adhering to all safety practices
- Deliver products or assets according to route schedule and customer delivery expectations in a safe and timely manner
- Follow designated routes and schedules unless otherwise directed by supervisory personnel
- Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents or breakdowns
- Load and unload product as required at designated stops, may include stocking and ordering of product
- Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with customers and report any problems to supervisor or manager
- Ensure and perform proper maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment and maintain a clean vehicle
- Complete all daily paperwork, maintain log and trip records according to company policy and DOT guidelines
- Perform load inventory and document condition of freight before departure
- Attend all driver workshops and training sessions
- Use company supported applications or systems properly
- Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or others
