The position of Driver, Hourly CDL-A, plays a crucial role in Core-Mark’s operational backbone, directly impacting the vital food supply chain supporting America’s food distribution system. This position offers a Monday through Friday schedule with a unique four-day workweek and dispatch hours typically ranging from 3:00 AM to 6:00 AM, providing predictable work hours and balance. Drivers can earn a minimum weekly pay of $1384.62, contingent on meeting minimum weekly requirements discussed during the interview process.

Focused on both intrastate and interstate logistics, this role requires qualified drivers to safely operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks while adhering strictly to Department of Transportation regulations and company policies. Drivers are responsible for loading, transporting, and delivering food and food service products to customer locations ensuring timeliness, safety, and product integrity. They also function as the company's frontline ambassadors, building and nurturing trusting relationships with customers through professional communication and excellent service.

Key responsibilities include performing thorough safety inspections of vehicles before and after trips, checking freight loads for security and accuracy, and adhering to safe driving practices at all times. The driver must also handle paperwork related to deliveries, including invoices and customer signatures, manage payments when required, and maintain accountability for returned or damaged goods by following company policies.

This role demands physical stamina to handle freight weighing from 10 to 90 pounds, utilizing equipment like lift gates and two-wheelers to move products efficiently across deliveries. Beyond driving and delivery, drivers perform general housekeeping tasks, maintain secure transport vehicles and trailers, and ensure compliance with all federal and state requirements regarding hours of service logs and health standards.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year or more tractor trailer commercial driving experience
  • Six months or more foodservice or beverage route delivery experience
  • Meeting all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report for the past three years
  • Successful completion of post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Passing a road test
  • Possession of valid DOT health card or ability to acquire one
  • Ability to hand-lift and use equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to handle freight ranging from 10 to approximately 90 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 1+ years tractor trailer commercial driving experience
  • 6+ months foodservice/beverage route delivery experience
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have valid current DOT health card or able to secure new DOT health card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment like two-wheeler and lift gate to move and stack product cases weighing from 10 to up to 90 pounds

Job Duties

  • Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
  • Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Immediately reports all safety hazards and inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
  • Moves tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule and unloads products from the trailer into designated customer storage areas
  • Performs damage control checks on items, scans, contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy, verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
  • Collects money where required
  • Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
  • Ensures all equipment and freight are appropriately locked and secured
  • Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and completes necessary paperwork
  • Performs daily record of hours of service following Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area
  • Secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork at end of the shift
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
