The role of Driver, Hourly CDL-A is integral to Core-Mark’s mission of supporting America’s food supply chain. This position requires skilled commercial driving with responsibilities including operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks on various routes such as intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive and drop routes. Drivers deliver food and food-related products to customers punctually while ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies. Beyond transportation, drivers serve as the face of the company and are crucial in building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers through professional communication and service.

Drivers at Core-Mark follow schedules typically Monday through Friday, enjoying a 4-day workweek with dispatch times between 3:00 AM and 6:00 AM. The role offers competitive pay, with minimum weekly earnings of around $1384.62, subject to meeting certain requirements discussed during interviews. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • More than one year of tractor-trailer commercial driving experience
  • Over six months of foodservice or beverage route delivery experience
  • Meet state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past three years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Valid current DOT health card or ability to secure one
  • Ability to hand-lift and use equipment for moving cases and freight ranging from 10 to 90 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • At least six months of foodservice or beverage route delivery experience

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre and post trip
  • Inspect tractor, truck, and trailer to meet company and DOT safety standards
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies
  • Report safety hazards immediately
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Perform count checks and verify customer invoices
  • Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer
  • Drive to deliver customer orders on schedule
  • Unload and transport items to designated customer storage areas
  • Perform damage control checks and communicate issues
  • Verify deliveries with customers and obtain signatures
  • Collect money where required
  • Load and secure customer returns
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight security
  • Unload damaged goods and complete necessary paperwork
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and trailers
  • Complete hours of service logs accurately
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
