Job Description

Core-Mark is a prominent leader in the convenience retail industry, specializing in fresh and broadline solutions that empower customers, employees, and communities across North America. As a division of Performance Food Group, Core-Mark has established itself as the largest and most comprehensive marketer of consumer goods, offering an extensive range of products, programs, and solutions tailored specifically for convenience operators throughout the United States and Canada. The company prides itself on fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful work environment, promoting a culture of rewards and recognition for employees who contribute to its ongoing success.

This opportunity is for a CDL-A Formula Driver located in Tacoma, Washington, offering a competitive salary of up to $100,000 annually. The position operates locally on a Monday through Friday day shift, with early dispatch times between 1:30 AM and 3:30 AM. The driver plays a crucial role in the food supply chain by delivering and unloading food and foodservice products to customers, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining the integrity of the goods.

The role demands adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, safe driving practices, and thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections. Drivers are the face of Core-Mark to its customers, responsible not only for making deliveries but also for building strong, lasting relationships. They must show professionalism when interacting with customers, vendors, and co-workers, maintaining clear and courteous communication at all times. Attention to detail is vital as drivers inspect and secure freight, complete accurate paperwork, and manage the logistical aspects of deliveries.

Essential duties include driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes—including intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight runs—while handling the loading and unloading of products. Drivers must be capable of performing manual labor including hand-lifting products that range in weight and utilizing equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to move freight safely. Safety and cleanliness are paramount, requiring drivers to complete daily logs and maintain their vehicles and work areas.

Core-Mark supports employees with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health and wellness benefits from day one, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. The company is committed to providing growth opportunities within a vital sector that sustains America’s food distribution system, ensuring stable career paths in a rewarding and essential industry. Core-Mark is an Equal Opportunity Employer that values diversity and inclusion, and it makes reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities to enable them to perform the job successfully.
