This role is for a Tractor Trailer Driver based in the 95206 zip code area, with no travel expected outside the designated routes. The position offers a competitive wage ranging from $10.00 to $48.00 per hour depending on skills, experience, and other factors, with eligibility for participation in the company’s incentive plan. This full-time role is essential to the supply chain, involving the safe and timely transport of products from warehouse facilities directly to customer locations. The driver is responsible for unloading deliveries accurately and ensuring that all food safety requirements and company standards are met while maintaining sanitary conditions in both vehicle and delivery environments.
The Tractor Trailer Driver’s duties include not only managing scheduled deliveries but also handling customer returns, damaged goods, and pickups efficiently. The job requires operating 3-axle tractors, 45 to 48-foot trailers, straight trucks, onboard computers, and associated equipment such as hand carts and pallets. The driver must complete detailed paperwork including DOT logs, inspection forms, and delivery invoices in compliance with company and government regulations. Maintaining professional and courteous communication with customers to foster strong relationships is paramount.
Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations, hazardous materials guidelines, and safe lifting and delivery practices. The role demands physical stamina, as drivers are required to handle products weighing up to 50 pounds by hand and push items weighing up to 350 pounds using hand carts. Flexibility in schedule is necessary as work may include overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call assignments. Job Requirements
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
- Must be insurable to operate a vehicle
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent degree
- One year tractor trailer driving experience or completion of a tractor trailer driving school
- Ability to read, write and understand English sufficiently to communicate with the public and comply with regulations
- Ability to lift, push, or move product weighing up to 50 pounds and push up to 350 pounds with a hand cart
- Must work overnight, weekends, holidays, overtime and on-call schedules as required
- Must adhere to all safety and food handling protocols
- Ability to operate 3 axle tractor, 45 - 48 foot trailer, straight truck, on-board computer and associated equipment
- Must maintain regular and predictable attendance
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent degree
- Completion of a tractor trailer driving school is acceptable in lieu of a high school diploma
- Minimum one year of tractor trailer driving experience preferred
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and Hazmat guidelines
- Skill in driving long distances and varied terrains in different weather conditions
- Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain productivity levels
- Strong problem-solving and planning abilities
Job Duties
- Safely transports product from the warehouse to the customer location and ensures product is delivered on a timely basis according to assigned route
- Unloads product from trailer by hand or using hand cart down ramps, stairs, or docks in all weather conditions and places in designated customer storage areas according to customer specifications and company standards
- Picks up, loads and unloads damaged goods and customer returns and transports products back to SYGMA warehouse
- Ensures all paperwork is completed according to established company and governmental guidelines including DOT electronic or manual logs, inspections, company vehicle maintenance reports and pre and post-trip reports
- Ensures all food safety protocols are met according to established guidelines and maintains sanitary conditions in tractor and trailer
- Maintains and safely operates all assigned equipment including hand carts, pallets, load bars, SLS unit, and personal protective equipment
- Develops and establishes good relationships with customers by providing excellent and courteous service with clear communication
