This role as a Tractor Trailer Driver involves the safe and efficient transportation of products from SYGMA's warehouse to various customer locations. The driver will be responsible for adhering to assigned routes and ensuring that deliveries are made on time and in accordance with customer invoices and company standards. Key responsibilities include unloading products either by hand or using equipment such as hand carts, maintaining product quality by following strict food safety protocols, and managing paperwork including inspections, vehicle maintenance reports, and delivery logs. The driver will also be tasked with handling damaged goods and customer returns, transporting them back to the warehouse. An important part of the job is communicating effectively with both customers and management to report any issues related to routes, equipment, or products. This position demands a candidate who can work a flexible schedule including overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties as needed. Safety awareness and adherence to DOT and Hazmat guidelines are critical components of this job, and the driver must be capable of safely operating all assigned equipment and handling various weather and traffic conditions. This role requires physical stamina as it includes frequent lifting, climbing, and moving products and equipment. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent degree
  • Minimum 1 year tractor trailer driving experience preferred
  • Completion of tractor trailer driving school accepted
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
  • Ability to read and speak English sufficiently
  • Must be insurable to operate company vehicle
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 350 pounds with hand cart
  • Ability to work flexible hours including overnight, weekends, holidays and on-call
  • Compliance with DOT and company safety regulations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent degree
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
  • Completion of tractor trailer driving school preferred
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and Hazmat guidelines
  • Skilled in operating tractor trailers in various conditions
  • Ability to handle and deliver frozen, dry and refrigerated food products
  • Strong problem solving and customer communication skills
  • Ability to follow safety and food handling procedures

Job Duties

  • Safely transport product from warehouse to customer location on assigned route
  • Unload product from trailer by hand or using hand cart and place in designated customer storage areas
  • Pick up, load and unload damaged goods and customer returns and transport back to warehouse
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately including DOT logs, inspections, maintenance reports, and invoices
  • Ensure all food safety protocols are met and maintain sanitary conditions in vehicle and warehouse
  • Develop good customer relationships by providing courteous service and clear communication
  • Report any route deviations, equipment issues, or product concerns to management
  • Safely transport products received via backhauls and line hauls as per company standards
  • Work assigned schedule flexibly including overnight, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
