Job Description
Core-Mark is a leading company in the fresh and broadline solutions sector for the convenience retail industry in North America. Known for empowering customers, employees, and communities, Core-Mark has established itself as the largest and most comprehensive marketer of consumer goods across the United States and Canada. The company offers an extensive range of products, programs, and innovative solutions designed to meet the needs of convenience operators, focusing on efficient and reliable supply chain services. Core-Mark prides itself on maintaining a safe, inclusive, and rewarding working environment with a strong culture of respect, recognition, and support for its workforce.
This particular role is centered around the crucial position of a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver. These drivers are fundamental to the country's food supply chain, ensuring that customers' products are delivered safely, punctually, and in optimal condition. Beyond simply delivering goods, drivers act as the face of Core-Mark, building and maintaining strong relationships with customers by providing professional and courteous service. The job involves driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes including local, shuttle, overnight, and over-the-road (OTR) routes, adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.
This is an hourly position offering competitive wages ranging from $68,000 to $72,000 annually, which includes base pay plus overtime. The job features a desirable 4-day workweek with Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays off, and an early morning day shift starting between 5:30 am and 6:00 am. Additional benefits include day one health and wellness coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, 401k employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and numerous growth opportunities within the company. Drivers receive an annual merit increase as part of their compensation package, reflecting Core-Mark’s commitment to rewarding employee performance and dedication.
In this role, the driver will perform a variety of tasks essential to successful delivery operations. Responsibilities include conducting pre- and post-trip safety inspections of vehicles and trailers, reporting any mechanical or safety issues promptly, loading and unloading products, verifying delivery documentation, handling customer payments when required, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of equipment and trailers. Accurate record-keeping of hours of service and compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations are also crucial components of the job. The company emphasizes teamwork and expects drivers to cooperate with colleagues and management to best serve the organization and uphold its high standards of customer service and safety.
Core-Mark’s commitment to equal employment opportunity is clear, fostering an inclusive workplace that values diversity across multiple dimensions including race, gender, age, disability status, and more. This role offers a pathway for motivated individuals who want to contribute to a vital part of America’s food distribution system while enjoying a safe, supportive, and growth-oriented work environment.
