The Food and Food Service Delivery Driver role at Core-Mark is critical to the company’s mission of ensuring efficient food distribution. Drivers are the frontline representatives of Core-Mark, responsible for not only delivering food and related products safely and reliably but also building strong relationships with customers. This role requires operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight deliveries. Drivers ensure products are delivered on schedule and in excellent condition in full compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The position offers a competitive starting wage of $68,000 to $72,000 annually, including base pay and overtime, structured within a four-day workweek with Saturday, Sunday, and Monday off. The day shift starts early, between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m., allowing drivers to be home daily. The role also provides annual merit increases and engages drivers in a supportive team environment. Responsibilities extend beyond driving to include safety checks, load inspections, accurate completion of delivery paperwork, and customer interactions. Drivers must be able to utilize equipment such as hand trucks and lift gates to manage freight effectively. Maintaining the cleanliness and security of equipment and trailers after shifts is also essential. Candidates must meet several requirements including holding a valid CDL-A license, passing drug tests and background checks, and maintaining a clean motor vehicle record. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum six months commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A license
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Meet state licensing or certification requirements
- Clean motor vehicle report for past three years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Valid DOT health card or ability to obtain one
- Ability to lift and move freight up to approximately 90 pounds using appropriate equipment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid CDL-A license
- Six months or more commercial driving experience
- Must be 21 years or older
- Meet all state licensing or certification requirements
- Clean motor vehicle record for past three years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attain or maintain a valid current DOT health card
- Ability to handle physical demands including hand-lifting and equipment use
Job Duties
- Perform pre and post trip safety inspections of tractor truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- Report all safety issues and required repairs
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies
- Perform count check of items and verify customer invoices
- Complete accurate and legible paperwork associated with freight
- Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined routes
- Unload products and transport items into designated customer storage areas
- Perform damage control checks and contact supervisor as needed
- Verify delivery with customer and obtain proper signatures
- Collect payments where required
- Load customer returns on trailer and secure trailer doors
- Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
- Complete daily hours of service logs in accordance with federal and company requirements
- Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock areas
- Secure all equipment and complete paperwork at shift end
- Perform other related duties as assigned
