Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a branch of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline distributor specializing in foodservice supply chain solutions. The company has established a strong reputation for delivering high-quality food products to a diverse range of customers, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a team comprising sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts, Performance Foodservice not only supplies food but also provides valuable advisory services on menu development, operational strategies, and product selection to enhance customer operations. Their commitment extends beyond food delivery to empowering independent restaurant owners in achieving their business goals. This dedication to service and quality has positioned Performance Foodservice as a trusted partner in America's food distribution network.

The role of CDL-A Driver within Performance Foodservice is a pivotal position that supports the company's mission to ensure the timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products. Based in Plainfield, IN, this full-time position offers a Monday through Friday schedule with start times ranging from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m., depending on the assigned route. It comes with a lucrative $5,000 sign-on bonus and an annual pay potential up to $90,000. One of the most attractive features of this role is that drivers return home daily, offering a healthy work-life balance that is often unavailable in the trucking industry.

CDL-A Drivers are entrusted with driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on various types of routes, including local, intrastate, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive-and-drop routes. The role demands strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations to maintain safety and compliance standards. Responsibilities include conducting pre- and post-trip safety inspections, reporting any necessary repairs or hazards, ensuring freight is secured properly, and maintaining accurate records. Drivers also act as the company’s face, building and sustaining strong customer relationships through professional communication and reliable service.

The company offers competitive pay and benefits from the first day, including health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401(k) with employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, among others. Additionally, Performance Foodservice fosters a safe and inclusive work environment with a culture focused on rewards, recognition, and respect, which supports employee satisfaction and career growth opportunities.

This position requires candidates to be 21 years or older, possess a valid CDL-A license, and have a clean motor vehicle report for the past three years. Candidates must also pass a post-offer drug test, criminal background check, and road test, and either have or be able to obtain a DOT health card. Physical requirements include the ability to hand-lift and use equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates for moving products ranging generally from 10 to 35 pounds and sometimes up to 90 pounds depending on freight and location.

Joining Performance Foodservice as a CDL-A Driver means playing a vital role in the food supply chain while enjoying a stable, rewarding career with great benefits and opportunities for advancement.
