The company prides itself on fostering an inclusive environment where employees have access to world-class leadership, comprehensive benefits, and abundant opportunities for personal and professional growth. As part of the Performance Food Group family, Cheney Brothers maintains a strong commitment to diversity and equal employment opportunities, ensuring that all employees are treated with respect and fairness regardless of their background or identity.

The driver position at Cheney Brothers plays a vital role in the country’s food supply chain by ensuring timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products to customers. This position requires a high degree of responsibility as drivers are the face of the company, building lasting relationships with customers while adhering to stringent safety and regulatory standards. Drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes that may include local, intrastate, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries.

This full-time role offers a 5-day work week between Monday and Saturday with one weekday off and a rotating weekend shift, thus providing a structured yet flexible schedule. The shift typically begins at 10pm or 11pm and continues until routes are completed. Cheney Brothers offers an attractive salary range from $65,000 to $75,000 annually along with competitive benefits that include health and wellness coverage from day one, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off among others.

Drivers are responsible for ensuring all regulatory and company safety standards are met. They perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, check trailer loading integrity, verify delivery items, handle cash or check collections, and maintain accurate records and paperwork associated with freight. Attention to detail and adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies are critical components of success in this role.

The role also demands physical capability to hand-lift and use equipment to move freight ranging in weight and size, sometimes up to 90 pounds. Strong communication skills and professionalism are essential for interacting effectively with customers, vendors, and co-workers. Drivers are expected to perform general housekeeping duties related to their equipment and workplace to maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Joining Cheney Brothers means becoming part of a forward-thinking company that values its people and continually invests in their development. Employees benefit from a culture that rewards dedication and excellence, creating opportunities not only for current success but also for future career advancement.
