This position is for a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver, a critical role within the food supply chain essential for maintaining the flow of products from warehouse to customer. Drivers play a pivotal role in ensuring that food and related products arrive safely, on time, and in excellent condition. As representatives of Cheney Brothers, these drivers build and maintain lasting relationships with customers, reflecting the company's commitment to reliability and professionalism. The role involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes, including intrastate and interstate deliveries, over-the-road assignments, shuttles, and overnight runs.

Drivers will work a five-day workweek between Monday and Saturday, with one weekday off and occasionally rotating weekend shifts. Dispatch typically occurs late at night, between 10 pm and 11 pm, continuing until routes are completed. The average annual pay ranges from $65,000 to $75,000, reflecting competitive industry compensation. Key responsibilities include communicating professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers to ensure all inquiries are promptly and accurately addressed. Drivers perform essential safety inspections in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, maintaining both vehicle and freight safety standards. They are responsible for accurately loading and unloading products, verifying order accuracy, securing freight, and completing required documentation. The role demands strict adherence to DOT regulations and company policies to ensure safe driving practices. Additional duties include handling cash or check collections when necessary, managing damaged goods and customer returns, and maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in the vehicle and loading areas. Drivers also record hours of service and complete logs according to federal and state regulations.

This role requires candidates to have a valid CDL-A license, be at least 21 years old, possess a clean motor vehicle record for the last three years, and pass both road tests and background checks. Drivers must also have or be able to obtain a valid DOT health card and demonstrate the physical capability to handle product cases ranging from 10 to up to 90 pounds using various handling equipment.
